š® Fujifilm 56Mm F1 2 Review
The new XF 50mm F1.0 R WR mounted to the Fujifilm X-T4 alongside the XF 56mm F1.2 R. When Fujifilm announced they were developing a 33mm F1.0 lens with autofocus in 2018 it briefly caught my attention before I dismissed its 50mm equivalent focal length as too wide for my work and its weight (all 1300g of it) too cumbersome.
While typically quite expensive, these lenses serve as "halo" products, showcasing what each manufacturer's system is capable of. Fujifilm's halo lens is undoubtedly the Fujinon XF 56mm f/1.2 R (MSRP $999.99). This ultra-bright prime lens features a classic portrait focal length and one of the widest apertures you can get in an autofocus lens.

Image Quality. The Fujinon XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR has nine rounded blades, which give it beautiful rounded bokeh. Keeping the aperture at f/2.8 and zooming in with the lens makes the background more creamy and attractive. As is usual with Fujifilm lenses, the optical quality of 16-55mm f/2.8 is absolutely fantastic.
Viltrox AF 56mm f/1.4 is an autofocus lens specially designed for APS-C mirrors cameras. It gives you an equivalent focal length of 85mm which is one of the most popular focal lengths for taking portrait photos. The XF 23mm F1.4 is sharp. Not crazy sharp, but sharper than anything else Iāve used at 35mm from Fuji. X100 owners will see a jump in sharpnessāalthough close focus at larger apertures are no longer an issueāas will XF 23mm F2 WR and zoom lens owners. Expect some softness in the corners at the widest apertures.
The new Viltrox 75mm f1.2 is getting big hype at present. Full details and pricing coming on December 26th. I have the Viltrox 85mm f1.8 and it is good but I find it a little long so a 75mm f1.2 might work better for me. I am also tempted by the Viltrox 56mm f1.4 as that has the aperture ring just like the Fuji.
